Self Affirmations Life Cycle

Affirmations are the positive feedback loops that serve as an intervention for the inner self and the outer world. Affirmations are fundamental to maintaining self love and self worth at an optimal level. There will be times when one’s self will be threatened by external or internal forces.  This is when affirmations are necessary to raise the vibration and perception of one’s self. 

According to a study done by, University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, University of California, self affirmations activate parts of the brain that can be used to self process and reward one’s self. The parts of the brain include: (medial prefrontal cortex posterior cingulate cortex) for self processing and (ventral striatum ventral medial prefrontal cortex) for self valuation.  The valuation system is used when processing the future.  It notes that’s using self affirmations for future events are more successful than self affirmations about the past.

Affirmations may be used once there is a threat to one’s self perception. There is a need to reorganize one’s thinking of the self as a coat to protect one’s self integrity. One observes the uncertainty of the outside world and uses resilience to combat outside reorganization and change. 

Affirmations are then used to help one build their emotional positivity reservoir as an honest armor of self. Affirmations help to build the brain’s reward response to affirming itself. It then has the adaptive potential to handle the change from a new outlook. 

This is the fundamental framework of how to use affirmations in one’s life. Here are Currently Meditating’s three primary stages of Self Affirmations Life Cycle:

1. Build Resilence

Life brings uncertainties, threats, triggers, and change for everyone. Learning how to keep one’s self esteem and self love intact is a brilliant way to use affirmations. Resilience is the ability to adapt to the uncertainty in one’s life by bouncing into a place new space of certainty.

2. Rewards System Activation

Self affirmations lead to the ability to make better decisions when dealing with a perceived threat. The brain is activating in parts that represent self processing. One can then think and act from more empowered self identity.

Though there may be an obstacle, there are also more self resources that may allow for perceiving new ways of dealing with the present threat. This also leaves room to impact future life’s obstacles by creating and planning for more beneficial outcomes in life. 

 

3. Integration

Once affirmations are used to create a higher perspective of one’s self. Life begins to change. Stability or an ability to be resilient allows for a more balanced sense of self, even amid adversity. 

There is a stronger boundary between the outer world threats and the self. The Affirmations Life Cycle is  started again when one is triggered into the reorganization of their life. One goes from integration, back into resilience. Then into self affirmations and then integration again. 

Affirmations are a tool to use when handling the obstacles in life. Use affirmations to build more self love and integrity on your hero’s journey.
